The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia outlined a further work plan for building a circular economy

The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia held a meeting on the implementation of pilot projects in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation based on the indicators of the federal project “Integrated system of solid municipal waste management” of the national project “Ecology”.

“We have to show the result of our work, first of all, to our citizens, for whom the reform begins with a clean container site with beautiful tanks and ends with the purchase of products with the logo “made within the framework of the national project “Ecology” from recycled materials”. We have a large-scale and responsible work to do,” – stressed the Minister Dmitry Kobylkin.

The event discussed ways to achieve the goals set by the new decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the organization of a sustainable system for the management of municipal solid waste (MSW), ensuring their sorting in the amount of 100% and reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills by half. In particular, the issues of creating an appropriate infrastructure, developing mechanisms for public-private partnerships in the industry.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, together with the Russian ecological operator, selected 7 constituent entities of the Russian Federation representing different federal districts (Yamalo-Nenets autonomous region, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Sverdlovsk, Belgorod regions, the Republic of Chechnya and Altai). Regions differ in their demographic, economic and geographic characteristics, and the foundation will be laid there for creating a circular economy. In the future, this will allow the introduction of such industrial practice throughout the country.
